In the Great Hall, ghosts coming in and out of the walls
We don’t know what’s going on at all
We’re confused now

“Voldemort’s dead” - those are the words that Dumbledore said
He must be telling the truth because he looks at peace now
Because he looks at peace now

The cheers go on for hours
And no one goes to sleep
Some react with big smiles
While others begin to weep

Now he’s gone
I guess that we can all move on
And far better days are on the dawn
I look at my friends and I realize that
We all will be safe for right now

The next day, no professor had any classes
Flitwick had said
“Two people last night died for you
They were former students of this school”
Then he broke down – we sat there in silence
He sobbed on, and then we were dismissed
I’ll not forget that day
I won’t forget his face

And that night, nobody slept
Many people still were grinning
And still, some people had wept
